With 2020 ending, and 2021 quickly approaching, we are looking forward to what the year ahead has to offer. Part of this is exploring the exciting trends in design and home décor that come with each new year. Here, we make our predictions on upcoming trends for the year 2021.
Natural Elements. We think you will start seeing elements of nature incorporated into more and more homes. Think greenery, organic materials, and raw finishes that bring the outdoors indoors. Try adding a few plants, palm leaf prints or woven pendants if this style intrigues you.
Cozy & Luxurious Decor. With many people working and spending more time at home, you will see an increase in the desire for comfort. Plush couches, soft throw pillows, and cozy knit blankets will be staples in home décor. There will be an increase in at-home luxury, with people spending more on things like candles and bed linens.
Navy. While certainly not a ground-breaking trend, is certainly here to stay. 2020 saw an increase in the dark-blue hue, and 2021 will solidify its spot as a popular dark neutral. Navy is a classic color, yet interesting and chic and can work in many design aesthetics.
Light wood. Lighter colored woods will be making a comeback in 2021. Previously considered a dated look, softer wood tones are reemerging in modern shapes and styles. You will see light wood not only on flooring and furniture, but also on cabinets in an updated minimalistic style.
Black and white. This classic and striking color combo will be popping up again in 2021. We are seeing separate pieces in black or white, as well as mixed patterns featuring both colors. You can create a beautiful accent wall with these colors or update your flooring or backsplash with a black-and-white tile.
